What I Do to Create Action and Change in My Life

In last week’s blog, I introduced you to the new shift that Living Happy will go through in the future… As part of the change, I want to focus more on the art of Creating Change where change is needed, and dig into how you can begin to create change and action, and finally help you obtain what it is that you want the most out of life.

Why is it that some people obtain whatever they dream of, while others seem to stay stuck in the dream and the same old rut?

Whether you want to find the one, travel the world or do something completely different, I want to make it my mission to help you find the courage and gut to finally pursue what you want and off cause obtain it.

If you haven’t read last week’s blog, I highly recommend that you do, as it contains a lot more of my thoughts and reasons written down.

Stagnation vs. Action

Throughout my entire life, I’ve had moments of stagnation and often had a hard time getting stuff done. Even though I had plenty of dreams and Ideas, I just couldn’t find the focus, self-esteem and energy to do the work.

At other times, I found myself in an almost unstoppable state of creativity, action and with a high level of initiative…

I find it fascinating and a bit annoying that my level of action and follow-through can change so much, and that it often seems random which of the two states I’m stuck in.

What is it that defines our state of follow-through and action? Is it something physical, mental, environmental or is it a combination?

The best place to start

When I look back on my life and really pay attention to the times when I’ve been the most active and managed to create the changes I longed for the most, especially one thing seems to shout out at me… I made a conscious effort to be mentally and physically awake and present in my life.

When I go about my day, without routine and structure, that is when I have the most difficulty getting anything done… I don’t have my mind in the “game” and I often end up feeling unmotivated, a bit restless and unhappy.

But when I start my day the best way possible that’s often when I feel the most accomplished and creative, and I get a boatload more done on those days.

What seems to work for me

I’m normally a moment to moment kind of girl and I love to have freedom in my day, to be spontaneous and creative, but when it comes to getting my life in gear I need to follow a structure and a routine…

And the strange thing is that when I follow this routine I get a ton more play-time and just have more time to have fun and be spontaneous.

It’s about what YOU need

It doesn’t have to be a rigid and difficult routine, but instead it should be about tailoring a personalized, fun, energy-boosting and positive routine that makes you feel like a winner with a surplus of energy and focus.

My routine

You don’t have to follow my routine to the tee, but I want to share it as an inspiration and as a guideline on how to create a personal routine that works for you.

What I’ve found is that if you start your day right, you end your day right… so if you make your morning amazing, it will help you get through your day on a more happy, positive and productive note.

  • I wake up at around 5-6 am (depending on the time of year)
  • I drink a big glass of tempered water (it gets your whole system running after a long 8 hour fast)
  • I put on some active gear for later and then do 15 to 30 minutes of meditation. (depending on how much time I have in the morning)
  • I then go for a 20 to 30 minutes long run/walk (There’s a boatload of information and research on the benefit and why you should work out for at least 20 min. each day.)
  • Then I take a shower and get ready for the day.
  • I make sure to eat a healthy breakfast that fuels my body and sets me up for the day ahead.
  • On days where I don’t have to be creative and create a ton of amazing material, I like to take about 30 min. to read a book before my day begins. (I find that when I use my imagination and creative energy on reading, I don’t have as much energy and focus left, for my own creative work.)

Would you be willing to give this routine a try, in order to optimize your day and life? Do you have a routine or something completely different that helps you achieve more in your day and life? Please go ahead and share your thoughts and ideas in the comment section below.
